8 Months and Cutting Teeth like crazy...finally!

Well, it's the 18th of the month, and that means that Mason is another month older! He's 8 months now and has FINALLY started to cut some teeth!!! Let's see.... so far this week he has surprised us by popping through 3 - yes THREE teeth in the past 4 days! And look at him, he couldn't be happier! I think he knows that the more teeth that come in, the more mommy might share her food with him!? Who knows! Mason is such a happy baby and cracks us up all the time! The three pictures on the top and bottom left are the 3 faces he makes constantly - as I am assuming that's how he deals with the tooth situation. But other than crabbiness when hungry (aren't we all!?) he is so mild mannered! I just love him to pieces! He is all over the house, sometimes quicker than I expect, and is now standing up on almost everthing. His favorite is to sneak behind the recliner and stand in the window beating on the glass and talking to whoever might listen... which is usually my neighbors cat in their window! It's cute! He's a real joy and I couldn't have asked for a better baby! (well, they've all been really good!- I think the good Lord knows me too well!)

Granny's Hat

A few weeks ago, when we were getting blasted with snow, Dave's Granny sent this fine hat to him so that his ears would stay warm when he is out plowing! How nice! Well, Granny, these pictures are for you! We like it so much that we all had to model it! Gotta love it! I know... we're a bunch of crazed lunatics, but oh well! Thanks Granny for lightening up our day!

Epiphany!

I'm not sure I spelled 'Epiphany' right, but there you go.
So I was reading my friends blog this morning on good old Valentine's Day feeling sorry for myself that it snowed last night and Dave had to go out plowing this morning and is not here to have our traditional Valentine's Day breakfast... when I read this post and realized my attitude is a bit off. Read it and see what I mean. Especially women. Sue, you are so right, and I'm glad for the wake-up call! Sure... flowers, chocolates, etc on V-day is nice, but what about the rest of the year!
I do love my Dave, even if he doesn't have time to go buy me flowers, a card or whatever. He's a busy guy and I love him for taking care of our family!

An addition to Mason's Tricks, and Bike Riding???

Well, adding on to Mason's new tricks, on Sunday, he pulled himself up to his feet! I was amazed that it didn't take that long once he was on his knees, but I guess that's ok. I'm sad he's getting so big. But he is a fun and happy baby and I couldn't be more blessed!

Now... as far as the bike riding... Well, just a few posts ago, like 5 days ago, we were under a blanket of 2 foot of snow (plus whatever what here before the big storm) and today it was 60 degrees, sunny and almost all of the snow is melted with the exception of some larger piles, and the boys were out after school riding their bikes in the road!!!! CRAZY! It's FEBRUARY! Dave, who plows and is up to speed on the latest weather report, said to me today that it is supposed to snow in 2 days. So we'll see... but the crazy Northwest Indiana continues! It was nice to open the windows and let the winter out of the house for the day though! Wonderful!

Mason's New Trick

Well, Mason decided to try out his knees the other day during the snow storm... Looks like he found the baskets and knows there are toys in them! What a stinker! He thinks he's pretty cool though... but since he is now pulling himself up a little bit, Dave has to lower his crib so he won't fall out! Yeah for Dave since he has the whole day off today! Wonderful!!!

More Crazy Snow Pictures!

Ian made a snow angel on the porch. Ian and Luke peaking out from over a snowbank - the truck hood is in the foreground.
Ian and Luke are standing next to the mailboxes that Dave dug out.
This is what Dave looks like after 24 straight hours of plowing.
Yes... the snow was above the plow!!

Crazy Northwest Indiana Weather

For those of you who do not know what Lake Effect snow is, this is it! The snow started flying yesterday around noon, and hasn't stopped yet. Lake effect snow was being reported falling at a rate of 3 inches per hour! So far, there is a record accumulation of 25 inches (at least!) and we are supposed to get about 8 more inches throughout today! Schools are cancelled (yeah me) and Dave will be home to sleep a few hours then go back out plowing this afternoon. He has been gone since 11:30am yesterday and as of right now, 9:10 am he is not home yet.
So, for all those who enjoy warmer and less snowy weather this time of year... isn't it fun to see what you're missing!? ;) These are just some of the pictures I took this morning about an hour
ago.
Snow, snow and more snow... Yes, that is our mailbox!

The snow's up to the speed limit sign in our yard, and the drift next to our porch is about 4 foot high!

As you can see, I'm not going anywhere as the end of our driveway is packed in. It's even drifting off the roof!
My neighbors car is completely buried in the drifts!
I'm so grateful for my warm home!

Phooey on Comments!

So, as you can see, our family blog got a facelift today! The whole idea was to change the template up and move things around so that I could finally get the 'comments' to show up so you fine folks could comment on my blog posts! No such luck... everything seems to be in order, but it still won't let you make a comment. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know - and since you cannot comment, you can email me!
I hope you enjoy the change of scenery on our blog! I am one that likes to change things up once in a while, so I hope you like my changes! They only took me 2 weeks to finish!!! ;)
