Easter Sunday

We had a great Easter Sunday and weekend! We were blessed to be able to watch General Conference for the LDS church at home this morning. What a great blessing to hear the words and instruction from a prophet of God and the general authorities!
We went to my mom's for lunch and had wonderful roast beef sandwiches and tons of other great food! YUM! Dave and I got to hide the easter eggs this year for the big hunt, but I guess we didn't do a great job... they got done pretty quickly! doh! But my boys had a great time! Once Mason discovered candy was in the eggs, he quickly shoved 4 jelly beans in his mouth! AH! He was drooling green drool in no time flat! Luke found a lot, and was proud that he got so many! I think he would have eaten all the candy in the bucket if I didn't stop him after about 7! I just know he would have thrown up if I didn't stop him! Ian had a good time finding his '2 eggs' that had money in them! I know he's growing up when he wants the money eggs more! haha! But it was a fun time... it was so windy outside, but at least the rain held off!
The kids getting ready for the hunt. Ian, Luke, and Mason, and their cousins, Trey, Caden and Jenna. Luke finds an egg in a SHOE! (who's not wearing their shoes!?!?)

Yeah Mason! (where are you're shoes?!)

Mason is SO excited!!

Oooo... good eyes, Luke!
Awesome job Ian! What a smile!
On the run for more eggs!
Ian checking out his stash.
My boys :)
Happy Easter everyone!

New Life for my Chairs

After 3 kids, kitchen chairs with fabric surely do take a beating! So, I became very motivated yesterday and bought some fabric to recover my chairs! I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself, although, it's not very hard to do! The fact that I actually did it is awesome! Now that the new fabric is on, I do wish I would have gone with a solid color, but alas... the kids are still growing and constantly wiping messy fingers, spilling milk and whatever else to my chairs... so, hey... I may do this again in a few years anyway!

Ian's goodbye to George the Fish

A few weeks ago, Ian's fish, 'George', died. It was a very traumatic time. Instead of writing in his journal about how he felt, he made a poster. I thought it was cute and sentimental, and I hope to keep it until he is older. The date on it is wrong though, George died on March 11, 2010 (3-11-2010) We had a fish funeral and everything, in the which, Ian cried some more. He talks about wanting another fish, but I'm not sure yet. We'll see!

Last Saturday, Ian ended his basketball season with his last game! Ian has learned a lot about basketball participating in the YMCA league! When he started, he basically just knew how to dribble a little and shoot. Now, Ian can understand some of the different rules of basketball. He knows what defense and offense is, how to run and dribble pretty good, how to block his opponent with his hands up, how to try for a rebound and more! I'm so proud of him for trying hard and having fun! We had some rough spots, even where he didn't want to play anymore and would get really discouraged, but 'coach Mom' brought him out of it, and reminded him it was all about having fun! At this last game, Ian got to bring the ball down the court on the last two plays, and he actually made 2 baskets at the end of the game, scoring the tying baskets- even though no one kept score ;) - but I am really proud of him, and proud how he always showed good sportsmanship! Let's just say, Ian LOVED his medal that he got... maybe even more than playing the game! hahah!

A Mom's Vacation!

I had the best opportunity, thanks to my great husband, wonderful mother, and fantastic friends, to go with my friend Michelle, up to Crystal Mountain for some much needed away time and some fun skiing!!! We left early Monday morning for the 4 hour trip! We got situated once there and took a walk around to show me the resort - it was amazing! I felt so blessed to be able to be there with a great friend, and just relax from being a mom and to be myself for 2 whole days! While there, we ate great food - which we didn't have to cook; we watched a few movies - one I would not recommend; but most importantly, we skied until our hearts were content! (and our legs hurt!) :) It was so nice to be back on the slopes. I haven't skied in about 12 years, so this was great for me! I thought I would totally have to re-learn how to ski and spend some time on the bunny hill, but to my surprise, it came back really quickly! I didn't even fall the whole first day! I did end up biffing it on the second day in the evening, and I had to laugh at myself, and Michelle HAD to take a picture! (I think I bugged her too much about taking pictures so I could scrapbook them! haha!) I am so grateful to my mom for watching my boys for 2 1/2 days so that I could have fun! I owe her the world! Here is our adventure in pictures....
Getting ready to goGoggles and helmet I borrowed - don't I look awesome!? I was a little skeptical on wearing it, but it wasn't too bad, and I wore it the whole time. Proved later to be a good thing!Me and Michelle ready to hit the slopes! The sunset was gorgeous on the mountain top.On top of the black diamond (which I DIDN'T go down) overlooking the little village resort. It was breathtaking! My awesome BIFF! Look, my ski even came off! Thank goodness for the helmet! I laughed the whole time! It was awesome!

I'm an Awesome Mom!!

I wanted to take the boys sledding this afternoon so bad, but I didn't have anyone to watch Mason, so what do we do instead...
BUILD A SNOWMAN!
But when that posed to be harder than I remember, I got the shovel out and...
BUILT A SNOW FORT!
Yes... I am the best mom in the whole world! ;) Now, if they will just play in it!

We WERE going to make a family of snowmen, but it was taking too long and the boys weren't really into it - what is wrong with my kids that they want someone ELSE to make their snowman for them!?

Lots of shoveling to get that great wall! But they thought it was awesome!

Too Long not to post!

It has been over a month now that I've posted anything on our blog and since I'm getting back into the swing of things and trying to keep up with my friends blogs and their lives, I realize they might want to see an update of MY life once in a while! So, here is an update... more pictures to come soon!

So, I've realized that I never even wrote about one of the most significant events in our recent family history! What a slacker wife I am!!! In December, Dave graduated from Purdue North Central with his Bachelors Degree in Construction Management Technology! 4 long years have come to an end and we are SO extremely excited to be done with that chapter of our lives.. I know he is! There are no pictures yet of graduation, because PNC doesn't do a winter commencement... so, we'll have to wait till May to get him in his cap and gown. And I don't care how much it costs to rent the darn thing - he's going to walk at commencement and get a picture, because this is a big deal! Even though he got to pick up his diploma already, it just doesn't seem complete until you see the commencement. So, stay tuned for pictures of that in a few months!

Next huge news would be, that about a week after my last post in January, Dave was offered a job at Trainor Glass in Michigan City! Exciting that it is close and currently we do not have to move, and it is in his field of work so that is great. The pay isn't exactly 'rockin', but it's a start! He is an Assistant Project Manager and gets to figure out all sorts of things from estimating to proofing specs for jobs. He loves it so far and is motivated that they offer advancements and transfers (me... I'm excited about the advancements, not crazy about the transfers! hahah) So, the last post was about a huge snow fall... and yeah, that was the last one he plowed snow for! Which has been GREAT! He has a regular schedule now 7-4 M-F, and that is worth it's weight in gold to me!

Next on the list... Ian started basketball! Through the YMCA, we put Ian on a bball team and so far it's not going too great. He wanted to play really bad, but apparently, he isn't really into it. Great.... but he's trying, I guess. He's only had 2 games and has cried at both. Man... poor kid. I just am really anxious to root for my kids in sports and be into the whole sporting mom thing... but maybe it's too early. Maybe he's still too young? We did sign him up for Baseball again in the spring, so we'll see how that goes too.

Luke is as crazy as ever, full of attitude and unfortunately, stubborness! He's doing ok in preschool, but the teacher recommends holding him back from kindergarten this year... darn! He is still young, but I haven't decided for sure how I feel about holding him back... it would mean paying another year of preschool - which the prices are outrageous!! Anyway, that is him.

Mason is still growing like a weed and getting lots of teeth, eating me out of house and home, getting crazy, funny, and stubborn as well! Great. hahah Just kidding! He's a little monkey and I'm constantly getting him off the table, counters, couch, piano, etc... you name it, he wants to climb on it.

As far as me... well, not too much to tell. I'm still trying to figure out girls camp for church since I'm the stake camp director... I'm still doing cub scouts as well, which is fun. Still trying to get in shape - which isn't going too well... still constantly cleaning my house... still doing the website, etc... so you see, not many exciting and interesting things going on in my personal life! haha!

Like I said, I am going to try harder to keep up. My friend is doing a 365 day challenge of a picture a day for 2010... I'm leaning toward doing that too, but I might have to make a new blog for that! Hopefully this year holds new adventures and new challenges... I am ready for spring and hopefully soon we'll be able to get out of this trailer! I'm getting cabin fever and beginning to feel surrounded on all sides by our growing boys and less space! Till next time...

SNOW DAY!

So after about 4 hours of Ian playing the Wii on his Snow Day, I forced them outside to play and get the blood flowing again! Looks like they are having fun! Dave is home for about an hour, and now has to leave again to go plow some more and won't be home until late, but whatever pays the bills! Ian and Luke are still outside having fun! Too bad they left their sled out last week... now they can't find it under the foot of snow in the yard! hahaha! Now... I just need a pair of boots so I can go out and build a snowman!!!

Lovin' the box

Mason was posing good for the camera this afternoon, so I thought I'd share! (yes... he's still in his jammies and it's 2:00 pm. it's a snow day!) He emptied all the coats and gloves out of our 'coat bin' and had some fun! What a cutie pie!
